The Star Wars blu-ray collection "enhances" things yet again with a bunch of little changes that please only George Lucas as he hears millions of fanboy voices cry out in terror.

When the Emperor is zapping Luke, at the moment when Vader suddenly decides to play for the other team again, Vader now yells "Noooo! Noooo!" like a little girl. (Video link in the article I linked above - decide for yourself...)

George Lucas feeds on our tears. And our money. Tears and money.

I've said many, many times that George Lucas is an awful storyteller. Honestly, "A New Hope" (Star Wars before its name was retconned to screw with us all) isn't that great of a story if taken alone. All in all, the series has suffered from narrative weaknesses that the fans have slowly corrected over the years (mostly by entirely plausible theories and by active denial), but then Lucas waddles in and sets things askew again.

I could cite examples, but it's kinda not worth it. I'd rather have the original movies, color corrected with updated sound. Basically, the THX release from the mid 90's.

Wait, I have that! ...on VHS.

Agreed - Star Wars benefits from having attained geek critical mass, allowing it to run in a self-sustaining geektacular reaction.

Seriously, way back in the 90s there were quite a few very good Star Wars novels that just took the universe and built on it effectively because they didn't have GL actively screwing it over. (I'm thinking, for example, of the X-Wing Rogue Squadron/Wraith Squadron series by Mike Stackpole and Aaron Allston.)

danizduhman I am your Dark Lord.

If you want good Star Wars, play through KOTOR 1 and 2, and then buy SWTOR when it comes out.
